The City of Boston is encouraging residents and businesses to help stop the spread of COVID-19, and an important part of stopping the spread is getting more people tested. This will help the City of Boston better understand and control the spread of the virus.

Getting tested

    • The City is also encouraging everyone to consider getting tested for COVID-19, regardless of symptoms. If you are interested in accessing free COVID-19 testing, check out the City’s mobile testing sites. Testing at our mobile sites is available to anyone, regardless of symptoms and insurance coverage. 

    Other testing centers

    Other testing centers have varying policies regarding the availability of asymptomatic testing and insurance coverage. Please call ahead.     Please note: The hours, times, and processes vary by site. Some sites require you to call ahead for pre-screening and to schedule an appointment. You should contact your health insurance provider with insurance coverage questions, and to determine any potential uncovered costs.

    • Testing starts at age 12 -17 and is only available to Bowdoin Street pediatric patients. Testing is available to the public for those 18 and older.
    • Health insurance is collected. Residents must check with their insurance for uncovered costs.
    • Free tests are made available on a screening basis. If you are not a Bowdoin Street patient and want to re-test, if you already had a positive test or have left Massachusetts while traveling you will not be able to receive a free test.

    Could I have COVID-19?

    include fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, and diarrhea.

    There is growing evidence of transmission risk from infected people without symptoms (asymptomatic), or before the onset of recognized symptoms (pre-symptomatic).

    If you have symptoms of COVID-19, you should call your health care provider. This is especially important for for complications from COVID-19.
